Tip - Explain More But don’t Write for Stupides
Posted by Abdz - 11/07/09When you want to start writing a blog you can choose any topic that you love. It could be something that you are passionate about like cooking, gardening, or movies, but it can also promote your websites by offering tips and general information as well as leading people strategically to your website to purchase products. There are a few tips when you start writing your own blogs, and here is one of the essential ones to keep in mind. Don’t assume that your readers are stupid.
This might sound obvious, but many times when someone in a technical field wants to write a blog they over explain to the point where the blog becomes almost condescending. You should really try to keep your blog general and informative to whomever might be reading. If there are huge differences in technical terms and aspects between beginners and more experienced people, you can always write a different blog for the beginners, with an advanced blog for those with previous skills and knowledge about the subject.
How to Write Good Blogs
You should always remember to treat the readers with respect and do not become negative or condescending in any way. You should gain some interesting knowledge before you start writing and explain your topic in detail. The amount of detail you provide should be figured out according to the topic and according to the readers you are targeting. If you want to attract new people to cooking, you can give all the necessary advice and tips for basic cooking skills that people need to know. This can be done as a beginner’s blog. If you want to give people a news story that pertains to a specific industry that the blog focuses on, you should do this in a journalistic style, unemotional, and simply stating the facts.
By being friendly and welcoming to your readers and offering them some great advice that they can use as well as extremely helpful information, you will have a successful blog in no time. You will find that people are drawn to your writing if it is sincere and will not feel like you are treating them as an idiot. Your choice of words will also need to be looked at carefully. You might want to convey something in a satirical, tongue in cheek kind of way, but instead you will find that many readers take your blog as rude and sarcastic. This is because you have not checked your blog with fresh eyes and cannot see the little nuances that other people might be offended by.
This is just one of the tips that you should take note of when starting a blog and if you have not written a blog before. Most people are really good at writing fun and interesting blogs about situations and things that they like, so if you are one of those bloggers you should not have a problem. By assuming that your readers are not stupid and by giving them the most information and detail possible, you can be sure that your blog is popular and successful.
